You would think I should know everything about the Mike Austin golf swing since I wrote the book on him (In Search of the Greatest Golf Swing). However, John Marshall has taught me a lot about how to perfect this efficient, powerful swing. First of all, unlike other teachers, he is not in love with hearing himself talk. He doesn’t overload you with information that shows off his expertise while confusing the student. Secondly, he prioritizes the changes he recommends, working from the most basic and important into the finer points. And third, he exudes an air of patience that is essential in making the student feel relaxed. This promotes the best atmosphere in which to learn. I would recommend that golfers at any level take lessons from John. And if you want to see how much John knows, just watch him hit a few balls. You’ll see, hear and sense how solidly, and how far, he hits the golf ball.
Hi John. When I came to you for an initial lesson last week I was ready to throw in the towel. I had lost an incredible amount of distance and the accuracy portion of the equation wasn’t much better. Short and crooked is not a fun way to play golf. Within minutes you showed me how to stabilize the clubface from set-up to follow through which had me hitting it exactly where I was aiming. Then you explained how power is created through rotation and not lateral motion. Not only was I hitting some of the longest shots of my life but the swing seemed so effortless and easy on my body. All of a sudden I’m excited about playing golf again. Can’t wait for or next session to keep taking my game to the next level. Thanks SO much.
I’m a brand new beginner to the game, and at 45 I have no idea what the heck I’m doing. John was able to give me clear and concise instructions in an encouraging manner while not overwhelming me. I feel like my fundamentals are already stronger, and most importantly, I was able to go back to the driving range a couple of days later and reproduce the same results I generated in the lesson. I would absolutely recommend John for new golfers or for those looking to improve their game.
John has improved my game GREATLY. The lessons are fun and he is a great coach. He is incredible at identifying both small details you are missing as well as larger issues that are more apparent.
Anyone looking to putt, hit straight shots, improve driver distance, or anything in between – John is your guy.
I took a lesson yesterday from John Marshall, on his trip to California. I am a 10.9 handicap and have been studying the golf swing for over 35 years. I know a lot about the swing, but didn’t know that some of the things I ‘knew’ just are not true or at least don’t work well for me.
John was able to identify my errors, and explain why they caused what they did, then showed me how to fix them, all in just over an hour.
Drove from the lesson to a golf course and shot one of the best rounds of my life, 2 over on the front and even par on the back for a 74! Didn’t hurt that my putting was on, with only 26 putts.
I have had a few golf lessons in my life, two even from Mike Austin himself, and I have never been able to take the lesson to the golf course and see immediate improvement like I did yesterday.
If you are looking to improve your golf game, I highly recommend seeing John Marshall for a lesson. It will be well worth it for you.
That was an amazing lesson. Thank you so, so much for your help! You truly are worth your weight (or, better yet, MY weight) in gold.
You are a natural teacher, and you have given me two simple but key concepts to focus on…well, three…I can keep those three things in mind and I know the results will be encouraging. I know I still have some work to do, but you have given me great tools with which I can extricate myself from the rut I have been in.
I will update you after my outing tomorrow!
Thank you a hundred times over!
